| The
Cumming Parks and Recreation Board now meets monthly
to discuss future community events such as our Spring
Egg Hunt, Harvest Fall Picnic and Santa Claus' visit
in December. New events this year included a Walking
for Fun and Fitness as well as a Scrappin' Friday night
once a month. A 30th Birthday Bash is planned for September
of 2006 to celebrate our successes and continued dream
for a new park in the near future.
As
Cumming grows, we are still searching for an affordable
location for an updated, community friendly park and
recreation area. Our fundraisers have expanded from
t-shirts only to additional apparel and personal items.
In the fall of 2005, with the assistance of many of
our neighbors, we were able to create a fantastic
gift item, Cooking with "Heart" from Cumming,
Iowa, which was perfect for Holiday gifts! All of
our current merchandise is available on this website.
Many
volunteer members have come and gone since 1988. Our
current board members are Scott Newland, Jill Stanford,
Gin Simpson, Kelly Smith, Jean Webb and Cindi Neubauer.

Parks and Recreation Board serves at the discretion
of the City Council and Mayor of Cumming. We are here
to promote health, happiness and community in THE
LITTLE TOWN WITH THE BIG HEART.
